Easy to Learn! Step-by-Step Cabinet Measurement Tutorial for Beginners
If you’re a beginner measuring kitchen cabinets, don’t worry! It’s easy with basic tools and simple steps.
Basic tools needed: 5m retractable tape measure, paper/pen, mobile phone (for photos), step stool (for high spots).
Step 1: Measure the total wall length for cabinets
Pull the tape straight along the wall (parallel to the ground). Measure twice for accuracy.
Step 2: Measure the installation height
Base cabinets: Measure ground to countertop (80-85cm). Upper cabinets: Measure countertop to ceiling. Measure twice.
Step 3: Measure water pipes, sockets and gas meters
Measure their distance from wall/ground and diameter. Take photos to avoid rework.
Step 4: Measure corner cabinets (if any)
Measure both sides of the corner and its diagonal to ensure the corner cabinet fits.
Step 5: Measure windows and doorways (if they are near the cabinet)
Measure their width, height and distance from walls to avoid blocking cabinets.
Step 6: Check and sort out the data
Double-check all data. Sort and label data/photos to share with the custom cabinet company.
Beginner tips:
-
Keep the tape straight (not too tight/loose).
-
Record data in centimeters (cm).
-
For uneven walls, measure 3 points and use the smallest data.
-
Ask the custom company for help if unsure.
Measuring cabinets is simple! Just follow these steps, and you’ll get accurate results easily.
